Specialized Groups
In these groups, we explore a variety of topics and participate in activities together.
Arising Awakenings, LLC believes that healing of mind, body, and spirit is possible, and facilitated groups create an opportunity for transformation. Each specialized group meets to address a specific subject matter in which participants seek support and guidance.
While individuals may experience similar situations and challenges, each person’s understanding and manner of dealing with them is unique. Arising Awakenings, LLC honors your experiences. We strive to create a confidential, safe space community where, together, we may share the understanding of our experiences and also explore coping techniques. Whether you choose to participate by talking or sitting in silence, our goal is to gather compassionately as we provide non-judgmental, helpful strategies.
Our group sessions meet bi-monthly or monthly, depending on the topic. Sessions normally last 1 to 1 ½ hours.
Prices for specialized groups, including dance: Attendees are asked to contribute $10 per person to cover the cost of facility usage (for in-person meetings) or video services (for virtual meetings). You can register for these groups below!
Specialized Groups
-
Storytelling: Our Words Convey
Sharing stories helps us express our experiences and better understand ourselves. By telling and experiencing the emotions and outcomes of these stories, we can change how we feel about a situation or ourselves.
We will use unique ways to talk about our experiences and how events of our past express our present and desired future. Our topics will vary based on what is on our minds and hearts.
-
Sacred Conversation: Exploring Spiritual Teachings of Sacred Writings, Books, & Movies
Spiritual teachings can be found in any source of media and publications. Conversations become sacred when we safely share our personal understanding of God/Creator/Universe through reflective lessons learned from writings, books, and movies.
We will explore spiritual teachings and discuss our lessons found in both sacred and non-sacred writings, books, and movies.
-
Community & Social Justice Advocacy
We can create change by gathering together to explore ways to dismantle injustices.
We will review and define viewed and experienced biases and inequalities within our community, places of worship, and organizations. We will discuss ways in which we are called and need to respond.
-
Caregiver Support
Caregivers often experience frustrations, loneliness, and isolation due to primarily focusing on giving care to others and neglecting or ignoring their own needs.
Caregivers become a community when they can safely share experiences, ask questions, hear from others, and receive support and encouragement. We will learn from one another while receiving information on ways to care for others, while also caring for ourselves.
-
Alzheimer's and Dementia Groups
Caregivers receive information on caring strategies while safely sharing experiences and receiving support as a caregiver for someone with dementia.
-
Support for Grief & Loss
Share your experience or listen to one another while receiving guidance, validation, and ways to heal and cope with grief and loss.
Most people experience a loss more than once in their lifetime. Grief is typically our response to a loss, and how we respond to a loss may be either healthy or unhealthy.
We will examine grief, the ways we respond, and the consequences. The workshops offered vary from an overview of grief, loss, and coping strategies to self-examination and understanding of our own personal grieving process.
